A man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a tourist at a holiday park in Scotland.

The 41-year-old was pronounced dead when emergency crews arrived at Sandylands Holiday Park in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, at 11.30pm on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Daily Record: "We received a report of a man injured following a disturbance at Sandylands caravan park.

"Emergency services attended and a 41-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We are following a positive line of enquiry."

The 28-year-old suspect will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, reports the BBC.

Saltcoats is a small town on the west coast of North Ayrshire, Scotland. The name is derived from the town's earliest industry when salt was harvested from the sea water, carried out in small cottages along the shore.
