Shocking CCTV images of a 'foolish' woman seen lying down on a train track in Milton Keynes have been released.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) want to speak to her and her male companion after they were captured on CCTV loitering on a railway foot crossing.

The images were captured on Sunday, 13 April, by a Network Rail camera placed to monitor the crossing on a footpath close to Davenport Lea, Old Farm Park in Milton Keynes.

PC Robert Hagan of BTP Milton Keynes, said: "At around 3pm a man and a woman approached the crossing on a stretch of track that runs between Woburn Sands and Bow Brickhill stations.

"They can be seen in the images standing and walking on the crossing where they remain for two minutes.

"At one point the woman sits and lies down on the tracks.

"This is not only foolish but extremely dangerous behaviour and we are very keen to speak to both of these people."

Route crime costs the rail industry a significant amount of money. It costs passengers too. If trespassers are seen on railway lines, it can mean trains are held, current switched off and staff diverted from their duties.

PC Hagan added: "Trespass on the railway is a serious matter, but the most shocking thing about these pictures is the risk those involved were prepared to take with their own lives.

"If anyone recognises either of the people in the images I would urge them to contact BTP."
