British tourist Kay Wiltcroft dies after 30ft fall on holiday in Menorca

A husband has told of the last time he saw his wife before she died in a 30ft fall on holiday in Menorca.

Ben Flitcroft, 34, had been on a night out with Kay Flitcroft, 30, from Blackpool, as they enjoyed a holiday in Cala En Porter with Kay's parents, Roger, 63, and Sue Isherwood, 61.

The couple, who married in 2011, had been out with friends to watch the England v Peru match on Friday night, but Ben had decided he wanted to go back to the hotel.

Kay was still in the mood to party, so stayed out after Ben went home.

He told the Daily Star: "We were having good times - eating, drinking and having fun as we always did. We were with friends we had met over there in previous years.

"I'd had enough so she said the same thing she always said, 'You don't mind if I stay out for a bit do you?'

"That was the last time I saw her, she didn't come home."

Kay had reportedly fallen over a wall and tumbled 30ft down a crevice as she walked home later that night.

Ben woke the next morning to find Kay had not returned home. He called some friends but no one had seen her since the night before.

He then heard an ambulance, and ran outside to where it was, and saw her motionless at the scene.

Mrs Flitcroft was taken by ambulance to hospital with Ben and her parents, but was then transferred by air ambulance to Palma de Mallorca.

Ben received a call at 8.30am on Sunday morning to inform him that his wife had passed away.

Mrs Flitcroft worked as a manager at William Hill bookmakers on Ansdell Road in Blackpool.

Paying tribute to her, Mr Flitcroft told the Lancashire Evening Post: "All the customers loved her and the staff loved her. She loved her friends and she's got hundreds of friends.

"People have been absolutely fantastic and she was one hell of a person. We were brilliant together and we were soulmates. She was such a good person and she was my best friend in the whole world."

Kay's parents have been living in Menorca for six months since retiring. It is thought they may now move back to England.

According to the Daily Mail, the family flew back into Liverpool 's John Lennon Airport on Monday night, but Spanish police say it could take up to four weeks before Mrs Flitcroft's body is returned.
