A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a bus in Merseyside.

The 35-year-old man from Birkenhead was riding a blue Yamaha motorbike that crashed into a single-decker bus on Beaufort Road in Birkenhead on Wednesday, reports the BBC.

The North West Ambulance Service confirmed to the Liverpool Echo that they were called to the scene, but that they did not take anyone to the hospital.

Merseyside police also attended the scene, and the road was closed until around 7pm.

An investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

In November last year, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a bus in Snowdonia.

The incident occurred on the A4086 at Nant Peris.

According to the BBC, a Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said an emergency ambulance and the Helimed helicopter were sent to the scene and the man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

The biker, however, was sadly later pronounced dead.
