Traffic warden caught refusing to give parking ticket to his boss (video)

A traffic warden was caught on film refusing to give his boss a parking ticket after he had parked on a double yellow line in Swansea.

The warden was confronted by a member of the public after he was seen walking away from the vehicle which had apparently been parked for more than five minutes on the no parking zone.

Steve McMillian, who filmed the encounter on his phone, asked the warden why he had refused to ticket the car but he said it was at his "discretion".

According to the Independent, he said: "It's my discretion and I'm leaving that car. The police have discretion, they pass it on to us and I'm allowed to give that discretion."

When another warden walked over, McMillan asks him why the car is allowed to park on the double yellow lines, to which he replies: "Which car? That one over, there? That's my boss's car."

The Daily Mail reports that the "boss" soon returns to his car and explains that he is there for business, which McMillan tells him is not a valid reason.

After comparing himself to the police, who can disregard parking laws in certain situations, parking boss Steve Sheriff gives up and admits he should not have parked there.
