A 17-year-old girl was found dead in a Texas hotel room after spending the night with her boyfriend following a high school prom.

Police received a call from Jacqueline Gomez's boyfriend at around 11am on Saturday reporting that she had stopped breathing.

The pair had checked in to Houston's Hyatt Hotel and had been drinking alcohol in their room before sleeping, My Fox Houston reports.

There were no signs of trauma on Gomez's body and police are investigating her death. Jacqueline's boyfriend is not a suspect.

Detective Mike Miller, with the HPD Homicide Division, told KHOU 11 that alcohol and prescription pain killers were found in the hotel room. They took Jacqueline's boyfriend in for questioning but said they "have no reason to believe he contributed to her death.

"He was there. He knows everything, so we're just continually wanting to find out what happened and everything," said Miller.

Hotel guest Kyren Block, 17, told ABC13: "We knocked on the door to see if anything was going on, but they didn't answer."

Block said he could hear partying all night from their room.
