%VIRTUAL-SkimlinksPromo%Tax schemes such as the one used by Gary Barlow have been commonly used by the wealthy in the past but are becoming less widespread as regulators crack down on them and publicity about them has grown, experts have said.

Tax adviser Ronnie Ludwig said the schemes were legal but involve an interpretation of the rules so that individuals pay minimal amounts of income tax.
