Bomb found in luxury hotel car park in Dublin
A bomb has been found in the car park of a luxury hotel in Dublin, Ireland.
A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the bomb, which was discovered at the Finnstown Country House Hotel on Saturday evening.
According to Irish Police the man is being detained at Lucan Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. He may be detained for up to 72 hours.
The viable device was hidden in a milk churn in a car with a Northern Ireland registration in the car park of the luxury hotel in the Lucan area, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
A 999 call was made to gardai while hundreds of hotel guests were left stranded outside.
Gardai and the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit soon arrived at the scene at the west Dublin hotel.
They ordered that the hotel be evacuated at around 10.30pm.
Guests were not permitted to return to the hotel until the device was declared safe at 3.45am.
General Manager Gavin Creaton said that he had undertaken the appropriate measures in order to ensure the safety of the hotel's guests.
