A fifth of Brits have admitted to smuggling something through customs on their way back from holiday. The most common illegal contraband was cigarettes, followed by alcohol, tobacco and perfume. However, shockingly, 6% admitted they had smuggled controlled substances, and 4% have brought live animals through customs.

So who are these criminals, and why is this so alarming?
