58 per cent of Brits don't know where this is - do you?

Brits have proved they're rather clueless when it comes to identifying world-famous landmarks, with 58 per cent of us unable to pinpoint Mount Vesuvius in Italy (pictured).

A survey by Hotels.com found that 54 per cent of Brits cannot locate the Colosseum, while over 11 per cent believe the Sydney Opera House is in Italy.

Other famous global landmarks that couldn't be located by Brits were the Taj Mahal (35 per cent) and Christ the Redeemer (39 per cent).

Of the 58 per cent of Brits who did not know Mount Vesuvius was in Italy, 12.5 per cent believed it could be found in Brazil. Over half of the 2,000 respondents did not know the Colosseum was in Italy. And perhaps the most shocking finding was that over 20 per cent of Brits could not place Big Ben's location, with over 10 per cent believing it to be in Australia.

The Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty were the most recognised landmarks by Brits with 90 per cent and 80 per cent respectively able to place them correctly on a world map. Though 5 per cent thought the Statue of Liberty was in France.
