A couple's wedding plans have been left in tatters after the hotel in Wales where they were set to marry suddenly announced its closure.

Pearl Hallam and Steve O'Keefe were set to marry in front of 150 friends at the Grand Hotel in Port Talbot on 9 August.

But the licensee, Mark Hartson, who is closing the business on 27 April, says the reception was never actually booked, and that the six bedrooms had not been paid for, reports the South Wales Evening Post.

Owners of the hotel and pub, Punch Taverns, say they are still looking for someone else to take over.

The Grand Hotel receives three and a half stars out of five on Tripadvisor.

The hotel was hailed as "very clean" with a "nice breakfast" by one user, and "excellent value for money" by another.
