A three-year-old boy has broken his leg after being hit by a bus in Grimsby's town centre.

Emergency services attended the scene at the exit of the new bus terminus in Victoria Street at 11.20am on Wednesday.

The boy was taken to Grimbsy's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, where he was treated for his injury.

Dave Skepper, commercial director for Stagecoach East Midlands, told theGrimsby Telegraph: "I can confirm that, at about 11.15am, one of our buses was involved in an incident in the new Grimsby bus terminus in which a child was injured.

"Our first thoughts are for the welfare of the child involved who has been taken to hospital. Safety is our absolute priority.

"We will assist the police with their inquiries into his incident as well as carrying out our own investigation."

Humberside Police confirmed the incident and are investigating.
