Man dies after being hit by train in Wales
A man has died after being hit by a train in Barmouth, Gwynedd in Wales.
According to the British Transport Police, the incident, which happened yesterday morning (Wednesday), is not being treated as suspicious.
A British Transpot Police (BTP) spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to the line near Barmouth railway station, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
"Officers from BTP and North Wales Police attended the incident which was reported to police at 11.07am ad is currently being treated as non-suspicious."
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
The man, who is believed to be elderly and from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene, reports the Daily Post.
His identity and the full circumstances of the incident, including how came to be at the tracks are not yet known.
Enquiries are on going.
The train involved was a Machynlleth-bound Arriva Trains Wales service.
There is a replacement bus service for Arriva Trains Wales on the Cambrian line between Machynlleth and Barmouth.
An Arriva Trains Wales spokesperson apologised to passengers fo the disruption to the service.
A file is being prepared for North West Wales coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones. An inquest has yet to be formally opened.
