Andy Murray's luxury Cromlix Hotel has been investigated by Tripadvisor after glowing reviews appeared online before its opening night.

Six five-star reviews were left on the travel site about Andy's Cromlix Hotel in Kinbuck, Perthshire, a week before it actually opened on 1 April.

According to, an investigation had been launched amid allegations that the reviews were "incentivised".

But the hotel in Scotland revealed it had invited around 100 guests to stay during a "soft launch" before the official opening.

The hotel is being managed by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI).

Norbert Lieder, managing director of ICMI, told the Daily Mail: "As part of our soft launch Cromlix has welcomed over 100 guests to experience the hotel and facilities and give us their feedback.

"We are delighted that many of these guests enjoyed their experience and chose to leave a review on Trip Advisor."

And, even though the guests likely stayed free of charge, the Tripadvisor spokesman said the reviews didn't break any rules: "In this instance, we investigated a number of reviews relating to the Cromlix Hotel and determined that they met our guidelines.

"We allow anyone who had a genuine service experience to share their honest, unbiased opinion on TripAdvisor, whether good or bad."

Visitors noted everything from the "amazing dining experience" and "the best shower I have ever used", right down to the bedding, with one guest saying "the duvet cover on the bed has to be experienced".

Wimbledon star Murray bought the country house hotel, three miles from his home town of Dunblane, in February 2013.

The Victorian mansion features 10 bedrooms and five suites, which overlook manicured gardens and tennis courts.

It also boasts a restaurant called Chez Roux, overseen by legendary French chef Albert Roux and run by executive head chef Darin Campbell.
