'Inside' a crocodile attack video is online hit

A man has managed to record very up close and personal footage of what a crocodile attack might look like - inside the animal's mouth.

Chris Madden, a volunteer at the Everglades Outpost nature reserve in Florida, used PVC housing on top of his GoPro camera to capture the footage.

Speaking to Local 10, he said: "I call him Big Boy. He is a 13 1/2-foot American crocodile that lives here at the Outpost."

"I was just trying to get some underwater shots of him and as soon as the camera touched the water near him, he went berserk as you can see.

"As soon as anything touches the water, he is in and looking to do some damage."

And damage he did, ruining the newly-bought GoPro. Madden said: "The tooth just jammed right through the lens and since he was in the water, it flooded and got fried."

But, as luck would have it, it was actually covered under the returns policy - but Madden won't be risking the move with his next camera.

Meanwhile, last week a deadly Nile crocodile was found alive in the Everglades National Park in Florida.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino said they believe the young five-and-a-half foot croc might have escaped from a facility in the Miami-Dade county, reports Fox News.

The conservation commission are conducting DNA test to confirm this theory.

Nile crocodiles, native to Africa, can grow up to 20ft, and are a lot larger and deadlier than Florida's crocodiles and alligators.

The Nile crocodile is in fact the second largest in the world, behind the saltwater crocodile found in the Pacific and Indian oceans.
