Commuters at a busy London bus stop were in for a shock when they saw an alien abduction, a meteorite explosion and a Bengal tiger roaming the streets on their morning journey.

The scenes took place as commuters waited at New Oxford Street on Thursday morning.

But, London travellers don't need to worry, as it was all an advert for Pepsi Max's Unbelievable campaign. The company fitted Augmented Reality (AR) technology to the bus stop advertising boards.

According to the Evening Standard, the AR works by mapping the graphics and animations over a live video feed that was displayed on the side of the shelter to look like a window.

So, it gives the illusion of a see-through board - with a twist, including giant robots, meteorites and aliens.

The Daily Star reports that the scenes were created by Grand Visual and were the first of their kind seen on London's streets.

It certainly adds excitement to that tedious daily commute.
