Huge fish tank bursts open in Disney World restaurant (video)

Diners at a restaurant in Disney World got more fish than they asked for when a giant aquarium burst open on Monday afternoon.

The fish tank in the T-Rex Cafe restaurant in Downtown Disney in Orlando sprung a leak while diners were eating at around 4pm.

Something had reportedly caused a seam in the tank to break apart and water came gushing out of it.

One diner, Kate Wallace, managed to snap a pic and post it on Twitter.

According to Fox News, she said there was a "very loud" sound when the tank burst. She added: "We were sitting about 20-feet away. The people sitting at the table next to it did get wet... I don't know how they could have avoided it."

She said staff rushed around in an attempt to save the fish, which they did successfully, and cleared the area, but that the rest of the restaurant stayed open.

Ms Wallace told the Orlando Sentinel: "The staff - they were doing the best job that they could. It was craziness. Just kind of people freaking out. It's not something that you see very often. How do you respond to that?"

According to the Daily Mail, another witness Michael Pappas wrote on his Facebook page: "About four waiters climbed in and started scooping up the fish. It was chaos. Everyone in our section had to leave."

The T-Rex cafe is a dinosaur-themed restaurant at Disney World in Orlando.

Landry's, the Houston company that owns T-Rex Cafe, issued a statement that read: "A seal failed on the tank causing water to leak. Employees took action and did a great job rescuing all of the marine life, caring for our guests and managing the situation. The marine life has been moved to holding tanks and the restaurant is open for business as usual."
