Elephant mother saves her baby from muddy waterhole (video)

AOL Travel

The incredible moment a mother elephant saved her calf after it got stuck in a muddy waterhole has been caught on camera.

The concerned mum immediately comes to her baby's aid when she hears its panicked cries.

Other elephants flock around the baby, too, apparently concerned for its welfare.

The mother firstly tries to pull her baby out by its head, to no avail.

She then cleverly changes tack and starts trying to free its legs from behind and, thankfully, frees the little elephant.

According to her.ie, the footage was shot by tourists on safari at the Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa.
