Ten people were killed and 17 others injured in a bus fire on Wednesday morning in Jilin City in northeast China, local authorities said.

The local fire department was alerted at 7:05am that a shuttle bus owned by the Fukang wood company was on fire while travelling along a road.

Forty-three people were on board when the fire broke out, reports Rex Features.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to the BBC, a bus caught fire last week in the Guizhou province, killing six people and injuring 35 others.

Police arrested a man on suspicion of arson. They believe he may have set the bus on fire because he suspected his wife of infidelity.
