Abandoned Tube station sold for £53 million
A disused Tube station in Knightsbridge has been sold for £53 million.
Brompton Road station is believed to have been sold to a wealthy Ukrainian and is to be turned into luxury flats, the Evening Standard reports.
The London Underground station was opened in 1906 and is set close to Harrods. It was shut in 1934 and taken over by the War Office as an anti-aircraft operations room.
According to Reuters, Defence Minister Andrew Murrison said: "The Ministry of Defence is committed to selling off its surplus land and property in order to provide the best possible value for money to the taxpayer."
