Runaway Briton feared 'kidnapped by fake police in Spain'
A British fugitive is believed to have been kidnapped in Spain by men posing as police officers.
Francis Brennan, 25, fled to the country before his sentencing last October for a stabbing at a concert in Milton Keynes.
According to the BBC, he has not been seen since he was stopped in a friend's car in Alicante on 24 January and handcuffed before being taken away.
His parents Carl and Janet told Sky News: "We got a call from one of his friends and his girlfriend back in January to say that Francis had been arrested on January 24 but we later learnt from the Spanish authorities that this was not the case and that he had been taken against his will."
Detective Sergeant Richie Carr, from Merseyside Police, told the Daily Mirror: "A number of people posing as police officers from the Guardia Civil handcuffed and took him away. At that point friends and family believed that he had been arrested."
