Freebie Friday: this week's discounts, deals and freebies

Freebie Friday

It's officially half term - either this week or next. If you have kids you'll be wanting something brilliant to do with them for free. If you don't have kids, why should you miss out on all the fun? Give yourself a half term celebration, and tuck into free drinks, book some free horse racing, or indulge in some free pampering.

This week we have something for kids - and even more for the young-at-heart.%VIRTUAL-SkimlinksPromo%

Free Guinness

The users of have spotted that Guinness is offering free pints on match days at pubs showing the football. You'll need to download the matchPint app, then go to your nearest participating bar, visit the rewards section of the app and check in, then show the message to bar staff for your free pint. One user on the site pointed out that if there are a few bars near you taking part, you can get more than one pint a day.

Free horse racing

The users of have pointed out that you can get free tickets to Ascot. The tickets are for Discover Race Day on 30 April. You just go to the website, order up to four tickets for the Grandstand, and complete the registration process. There's no charge to print the tickets at home, so the day is completely free.

Free hand cream

Crabtree & Evelyn is offering what it is calling a hand cream amnesty. Just take an old hand cream (new or used) to any store before 12 March, and they'll swap it for a 25g tube of Hand Therapy. The tubes are apparently worth £5, so you can either take the remnants of something old, or buy an 80p supermarket hand cream and make the swap.

Free kids' meals

A few places have been doing 'kids' eat free' for half term, and because half terms are different in various parts of the country, some are running the deal for a couple of weeks just to be certain. Prezzo is offering the deal from Monday to Friday 12pm to 7pm until 21 February with this voucher. Meanwhile, La Tasca is offering the deal every day until 23 February (as long as for each kid you have an adult spending at least £10) and there's no voucher required.

Free DIY classes for kids

B&Q offers DIY classes for children at over 50 of its stores. The kids have to be aged 7-11, and while they won't learn how to replace a tap or build shelves, they'll have some fun and make things like bird boxes or mug holders, and you can get in for nothing. The classes usually cost £5 but if you join the B&Q club, and mention this when you book by phone, you'll get in for free.
