Video: Cheeky seal jumps into favourite fishing boat for a rest

A cheeky seal decided he'd had enough of Britain's stormy seas for one day - and jumped up into his favourite fishing boat for a rest.

According to the Daily Mail, Sedrick the seal has become a regular sight at Fremington Quay in Barnstaple, Devon, where he often relaxes in the same vessel.

But it's not all play and no work - he also uses it as a great vantage point for spotting fish, diving in for his catch when he sees one.

The cute scene was captured by Maureen Bennett, a customer visiting the Fremington Quay Cafe, which has lovely views over the harbour.

The footage was first posted on the cafe's Facebook page. Owner Paul Duffy said he often sees up to 40 people standing on a nearby bridge hoping to see Sedrick.

He told the North Devon Journal: "He has been a resident for the best part of the last two years. He really helps us out because it is a long winter when the tourists aren't around but to have something like that does wonders for the business."

He said Sedrick appears in the River Taw by Fremington Quay on a daily basis just before high tide, adding: "He always jumps on the exact same boat. It depends on the tide as to when he comes. We think he kind of uses the boat as a patch so that he can catch fish from it."
