Passenger dies from extreme cold in airport waiting lounge
A passenger died of exposure to intense cold at an airport waiting lounge on Wednesday.
The passenger was reportedly waiting for a PIA flight when the fatality occurred at Skardu Airport.
According to the Nation, a large number of people held a protest demonstration at the airport after the passenger's passing due to the lack of heating facilities.
The site said the protest demanded GB Chief Minister Mehdi Shah and PIA authorities take serious notice of the incident and compensate the bereaved family, as well as stepping up facilities at the airport lounge.
Skardu Airport is a domestic civil airport and military airbase located in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
It is connected with Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, and Gilgit, the provincial capital of Gilgit-Baltistan, through regular Pakistan International Airlines flights.
It also serves as a Forward Operating Base of the Pakistan Air Force.
