Drink driver jailed for two months for killing British tourist in Dubai
An intoxicated driver who killed a British tourist in Dubai before trying to flee the country has been jailed for two months.
Gavin Duffy, 29, died when he was hit by the 31-year-old Brazilian man's car in November last year.
Mr Duffy was crossing a road while on holiday visiting friends, The National reports.
The Dubai Misdemeanours Traffic Court suspended the man's licence for six months and ordered him to pay £24,484 to the Mr Duff's family.
Prosecutors filed an appeal against the sentence and have asked for a tougher punishment, Gulf News reports.
The accused will stand trial on 6 March.
