The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry teamed up with the armed forces on Friday to help a flood-hit town in Berkshire.

The pair were seen working since 6am in Datchet and were pictured lifting sandbags and wading in the knee-deep water.

According to the BBC, a Kensington Palace spokesman said: "They wanted to show their support for the flood victims and have joined the armed forces' relief effort."

William and Harry's visit was unannounced but TV crews and photographers soon followed them to the town.

The Guardian reports that the pair did not seem happy with journalists and Harry told one reporter: "You could come up here and help."

William added: "Why don't you put your notebook down and give us a hand with the sandbags?"

The Queen is also reportedly "supporting" flood victims, providing feed and bedding to farmers in Somerset.

While Thames Valley residents have been flooded out of their homes, parts of Scotland are experiencing record levels of snow and avalanches.
