Britain's beautiful coast is rich in marine life. %VIRTUAL-ArticleSidebar-Britain photos% From bright yellow seahorses in the sandy bays around Dorset to puffins swimming happily off the coast of Northumberland or grey seals splashing around in the Bristol channel, these images show just how much there is to see just below the surface.

And the exciting thing is that scientists are discovering new species all the time: In December 2013, for example, four new sea creatures were discovered off the northern tip of Britain's coast. At the other end of the British isles, meanwhile, the coast of Cornwall is seeing more dolphins, basking sharks as well as the bizarre-looking ocean sunfish.

For those in search of truly unusual marine life, Scotland's underwater world is second to none. The clear waters of St Kilda are spectacular: if you want to see a picture of a sea hare or a sagarita anemone, you've come to the right place. But wherever you are in the UK, we can guarantee there's there's something marvellous hiding in the water. We put this slideshow together to celebrate the wonderful marine life around Britain: if you have any of your own photos to add, contact us on Facebook and we'll put them in our slideshow with your name on!

Take a look at these pics - did you know you could see all this in Britain?
