British tourist dies in motorbike crash while riding pillion in New Zealand
A British woman riding pillion has died in a crash between a station wagon and a motorbike in New Zealand.
Anne Eileen Tomkinson, 60, died at the scene on the Karikari Peninsular in the North Island, reports tvnz.co.nz.
The 54-year-old female passenger in the station wagon was said to be in a stable condition in the Kaitaia Hospital, while the 47-year-old male rider of the motorcycle is also in a stable condition in Whangarei Hospital.
The news comes just a days after a British man was killed by a boat propeller while on a diving trip with friends in New Zealand.
Bruce Porter, 56, who emigrated to NZ a few years ago with his wife Jill, but was originally from Nottingham, was part of the Western Underwater Dive Club.
Bruce was struck by the propeller of the 16-metre catamaran on Friday 7 February in Tutukaka, 30km east of Whangarei.
