Lady Gaga has announced she's auctioning off her ticket to Space on one of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic spaceship flights - and giving all the money to charity.

According to entertainmentwise.com, the Born This Way singer was recently confirmed to perform in the outer stratosphere in 2015, but had already bought a ticket on one of the flights before she knew she'd become the first musician to perform in Space.

She will perform as part of New Mexico's Zero G Colony tech festival.

The Sun reports that she told Harper's Bazaar: "I honestly can't wait (to perform in space). I can't wait to design the performance. I'm auctioning off my second seat to raise money for the Born This Way Foundation.

"I want to make a moment that is about much more than me. Performing in space is such an honour.

"I want to challenge myself to come up with something that will not only bring everyone together but will also have a message of love that blasts into the beyond."
