Tourist boat sinks in Thailand - Watch the horrifying video

Updated

A dramatic video of an illegally operating tourist boat sinking in Thailand has emerged.

Loud screams from terrified passengers can be heard in the footage and men and women are seen throwing themselves off the boat.

According to the Daily Mail, the boat, named Aladdin, sank within minutes but all 13 people on board survived after another boat came to save them.

News.com.au reports that officials said Aladdin was not registered and was operating illegally in the Similan Islands National Park.

Director of the national park, Nat Kongkasem, said: "The vessel operates out of Ranong. It was not registered to operate in the national park and the hull was clearly of poor quality."

Swedish diver Dennis Karlsson, 46, was on a nearby boat and told Sweden's Aftonbladet newspaper: "It was just coincidence that our boat was there and could come to the rescue.

"It was really, really serious."
