Qoros to unveil new 3 Hatch model at Geneva motor show
Fresh from its 'safest car of 2013' success, Chinese budget brand Qoros is due to unveil a hatchback version of its upcoming 3 model.> Not yet launched in the UK, Qoros is already making waves in China where its impressive build quality, generous levels of spec and great value for money are attracting younger, first time buyers.
The question remains as to whether a relatively unknown badge can compete for UK customer's hard-earned cash but that isn't stopping the marque from showing off a hatchback version of its 3 saloon later this year.
Due for an unveil at this year's Geneva motor show in March, the Qoros 3 Hatch will be based on the same underpinnings as the 'safest car of 2013' (according to Euro NCAP) saloon but will feature 'sportier' styling to appeal to a younger, image conscious audience.
"The new Qoros 3 Hatch will appeal to the modern metropolitan always-connected customer who needs a little extra versatility provided by the hatchback body style," says Vice Chairman of Qoros, Volker Steinwascher.
"It offers those with active outdoor lifestyles or young families extra practicality, combined with added coolness thanks to its more spirited, sporty look."
To tempt buyers away from European marques, the Qoros 3 Hatch will feature an innovative eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system – Qoros MMH (multimedia hub) – which is operated via smartphone-type multi-gesture finger swipe inputs for minimal driver distraction.
This will also include 3G connectivity that offers 'free-for'life' services, including social network access, vehicle monitoring and real-time navigation.
There is plenty for tech heads to sink their teeth into but Qoros insists there is also a lot on offer for those who have more traditional automotive demands like a strong yet frugal engine, plenty of legroom inside and well-built interiors.
