Terrifying moment cruise ship passenger falls 100ft overboard

The moment an "extremely intoxicated" woman fell 100ft from a cruise ship was caught on camera and she is now suing Carnival Cruises for 'encouraging her to get drunk'.

Sarah Kirby, 31, fell from the ship in the Caribbean Sea in October 2012 and was in the water for 90 minutes before she was rescued, ABC reports.

She is suing the cruise company after the barman allegedly "pushed" alcohol on her and says her injuries were not treated properly after the cruise ship delayed her rescue.

"I remember leaning over the balcony to look at the side of the ship and next thing I knew I was in the water. Pure terror," she said.

According to Courthouse News Service, Kirby says she became "extremely intoxicated" after drinking Long Island iced teas.

The barman reportedly gave her group free tokens for the casino the more they drank.

Kirby is suing for negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Carnival Cruises told ABC that her claims "are completely unsupported and contradicted by the evidence in the case."
