Heavy rain and floods to hit UK this weekend
Heavy rain could cause more havoc in many areas of the UK on Saturday, warn weather forecasters.
Leon Brown, meteorologist at The Weather Channel, told Aol Travel that heavy showers will hit from Friday.
He said: "A slow-moving waving front will bring rain to southern Britain, and heavy showers will run along the Channel bringing a localised flood risk to southern counties during Friday and Saturday, with perhaps 25mm or more in short time periods.
"A wet day for western Britain on Saturday with as much as 25mm or an inch for south Devon and Dorset, and 15 to 20mm over south Wales.
"Rain also moving up across the West Midlands to northern England and southern Scotland with eight to 15mm falling. However, eastern England should fair better with a bright or sunny afternoon and lighter rain arriving in the evening. Temperature fairly mild at 10C in the SE and east.
The Met Office has even issued a severe weather warning for Wales and south west England on Saturday.
Many regions of the UK suffered flooding when torrential rain hit over the Christmas period.
According to the Express, the Environment Agency still has 98 flood alerts and 18 more serious flood warnings in place across the UK.
John Curtin, the agency's head of incident response, told the paper: "There is a continued risk of flooding in southern England, especially Somerset and Wiltshire, and we urge people to remain vigilant and be prepared to take action."
