This week there are freebies galore: for football fans, obsessive planners and lovers of hot chocolate. Meanwhile, if you're dreaming of upgrading your life, we have a couple of discounts too - for cheaper holidays and DIY equipment.

Free hot chocolate

Debenhams has spotted a great way to get people through the doors in this cold weather - by offering free hot chocolate. They tweeted the offer here, so all you have to do is retweet it and show staff the picture on your mobile device - or printed out.

Free football tickets

One user of got a free football ticket in return for charity volunteering and shared his tip. Prostrate Cancer UK is working with football clubs, which allow the charity to collect outside the grounds on match days, and the volunteer leaders are given a free ticket to see the match in return.

You need to apply here, supervise your volunteers, hand out buckets and give them a briefing. In return you'll get training, a free ticket to see the match, and the warm glow of having helped the charity.

Free 2014 Calendar from WH Smith

This is another of the O2 priority deals highlighted by users of At the moment you can get any 2014 calendar from WH Smiths for free if you have an O2 SIM and you download the app. As we've mentioned before, with so many of these deals on offer, it's definitely worth considering getting a pay-as-you-go SIM.

£20 holiday discount

If you need to book a weekend break to take you away from the misery of the cold new year, then you can get £20 off any weekend break costing more than £400, with vouchercloud. Two of you could get £20 off your trip to Copenhagen - although arguably it's not going to be a great deal warmer than here. Alternatively you can opt for one of their cheaper deals - like Prague from £98.50 per person or Madrid from £95 - which are cheaper (and hotter too).

£5 off at Homebase

If you want brighten up your home to cheer your January up, you might be needing some DIY bits and bobs. If you can break your shopping in two, you can save £5. Homebase is running a deal whereby if you buy anything at the store you can ask at the till for a flyer about the Homebase Paint Us A Picture website. Pop home, enter your receipt number on the site, fill in a quick survey, and you'll get a code. Print this off, and take it back to the store within two months for £5 off a £50 spend.

£25 discount on all Kindle Fire devices
