The moment an air ambulance crashed on a runway in Iceland killing two people has been uploaded as a video on YouTube.

The footage emerged last week and shows the Beechcraft Super King air ambulance flying above a runway in Akureyri before it slams into the ground, creating a giant fireball.

According to the Daily Mail, the pilot miraculously survived the crash.

Cameras on the ground captured the incident, which happened in August 2013.

The Daily Star reports that the aircraft had aborted an earlier landing at a different airport before it crashed in an attempted emergency landing.

Authorities have still not determined what caused the crash.
