Roof of bus ripped off as it hits railway bridge after driver takes wrong turn

A bus was left roofless when the driver took a wrong turn and crashed into a railway bridge in Kingston.

The roof was completely ripped off but the bridge was not damaged.

Fortunately, there were no passengers on board and no reported injuries when the double-decker crashed near Norbiton station in south-west London.

Twitter user Alex Whitman shared photos of the bus and told the BBC: "I was quite shocked. It's one of those things you don't expect to see."

Mike Weston, TfL's Director of Buses, told the Evening Standard: "The bridge was not damaged and rail services are unaffected. There were no injuries and the incident will be fully investigated."
