A Superbike star who was stranded in Dubai for 10 months after his wife died on their honeymoon has been arrested on arrival in Britain over her death.

Sean Emmett, 43, had his passport confiscated in Dubai following Abbie Emmett's death when she fell from a hotel window in February.

He returned to the UK on Thursday and was immediately arrested at Heathrow Airport.

According to Sky News, Surrey Police said he was released on bail until March.

A spokesman said: "A 43-year-old man has today been arrested by Surrey Police officers at Heathrow Airport in connection with the death of Surrey resident Abigail Emmett, nee Elson, in Dubai in February 2013."

According to the BBC, the British Embassy was notified by the Dubai chief prosecutor in November that Emmett's case was closed and he could return to Britain.

Before leaving Dubai, Emmett tweeted: "Oh yes!!! It's been a long while coming. See you all in Blighty my lovelies x x x"
