Video: Five thugs knock woman unconscious in London bus attack

Police are hunting five thugs who knocked a female passenger unconscious in a 'shocking' attack on a London bus that was caught on CCTV.

The 22-year-old woman was sitting with a friend on the back seat of the 344 service to Clapham Junction when she was approached by the men who boarded at Lambeth Road at 1.15am on Thursday.

The men started by criticising the dress the woman was wearing, before one poured a can of drink over her and pulled her hair.

She got up from her seat and was the pushed and kicked in the stomach, before falling and knocking herself unconscious.

The attackers then got off the bus at the next stop, and the woman was taken to St Thomas' Hospital by ambulance, reports the East London Advertiser. Her injury was not severe and she was released later that day.

Detective Constable Kyla Mulley, of Lambeth CID, told the Evening Standard: "This was a shocking attack on a young woman, prompted by nothing more than a brief exchange of words. It is vital we track down this man and hold him to account for his behaviour. I am also keen to speak with other members of the group, who would be able to assist the investigation."

Anyone with information can call DC Mulley on 020 8649 2196 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
