Pagani Huayra takes on Pagani Zonda in exclusive track test
It is very rare that a Pagani is spotted cruising the streets of his hometown near Modena in Italy, let alone spied thrashing around a damp racing circuit in West Sussex.
But so exclusive and influential is the Goodwood Road and Racing Club that it managed to convince one of its members, a certain Peter Read, to loan not one but two extremely rare Paganis for a day of track trickery.
In the blue corner is the glorious Pagazni Zonda, with its massive naturally-aspirated 7.3 litre AMG engine that produces in excess of 545bhp. In the red corner is the new Huayra, with the slightly smaller 6-litre V12 engine that, thanks to a ruddy big turbocharger, produces a massive 720bhp.
The result is a video that shows the two magnificent machines going head-to-head on a sodden Goodwood circuit, not so much to race but to show off exhaust notes and generally look pretty.
A spokesperson for Goodwood racing circuit said: "This is the first time these two cars have ever been on track together with their amazing engine sound and exhaust noise - a little muted by the wet weather - and the cars look as magnificent as you'd expect."
