Skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes... in Cumbria
There's no need to head for the Alps or Pyrenees in Europe as England's own top ski resort Yad Moss in Cumbria experienced overnight snowfall on Thursday, giving skiers and snowboarders the chance to enjoy the slopes on Friday for the first time this season.
Adventurers looked like they were loving the snowy conditions on the slopes near Garrigill as they were pictured weaving down and making their way back up.
Cumbria experienced temperatures of 3C on Friday.
The Yad Moss website said: "An overall snow depth of 10cm with no drifts gave surprisingly good skiing on the first day of our season. Ten experienced skiers and boarders coped well with new unpisted snow and soon created a compacted surface on two runs.
"There are a few worn patches near the base station easily avoided. We enjoyed blue sky sun and no wind; a great early season day."
A picture was posted of the slopes early on Saturday morning, ready for the weekend skiers to arrive.
