A 31-year-old man was arrested after a woman was raped at the Holiday Inn in Seaton Burn.

Police said the woman was attacked in a room on Sunday after being invited to a party at the hotel.

According to the BBC, police described the offender as Asian and was believed to be wearing a dark body warmer and a cream jumper.

Sky Tyne and Wear reports that Detective Inspector Paul Race said: "We are appealing for anyone who recognises the man's description or has any information to contact us.

"We know that the victim was on a night out in Newcastle city centre before the incident. During the night she became separated from her friends and joined another group who invited her to a party at the Holiday Inn."
