Wallaby spotted in London cemetery dies after operation

A wallaby that was rescued after roaming Highgate Cemetery in London has died following foot surgery.

The marsupial was recovered from a playground last week after it was spotted in the cemetery on 21 October.

He had a broken foot and died after surgery.

An RSPCA spokesman told The Sun: "We are extremely saddened by the death of the wallaby which was caught last week.

"The procedure on the broken foot was successful but vets were unable to revive the animal from anaesthesia."

According to the BBC, the animal was taken into care near Heathrow.

It was first spotted on Hampstead Heath before being seen in Highgate Cemetery.
