Video: Twin tiger cubs pass 'swim test' at Washington zoo

They might not have enjoyed it (that's not a very happy face, is it?), but two super-cute twin tiger cubs passed their first swim test with flying colours at Washington's Smithsonian Zoo this week. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO

The three- month-old pair of Sumatran tiger cubs were placed into the moat surrounding their enclosure to see if they could survive if they fell in.

The cubs, named Bandar and Sukacita, were monitored closely by zookeepers after being thrown into the water to the gasps of a crowd of spectators.

The description on the Smithsonian Zoo's YouTube video page explains: "All cubs born at the Great Cats exhibit must undergo the swim reliability test and prove that they are ready to be on exhibit.

"Bandar and Sukacita were able to keep their heads above water, navigate to the shallow end of the moat and climb onto dry land.

"Now that they have passed this critical step, the cubs are ready to explore the yard with their mother, four-year-old Damai."
