The moment a fire broke out on a plane and passengers fled the aircraft at Montreal's Trudeau Airport was captured on video.

Around 250 passengers evacuated the Royal Air Maroc plane from Casablanca via the emergency chutes.

According to Global News, five people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A few suffered lower-body injuries from escaping and seven were treated for smoke inhalation on the spot.

The incident on Monday saw a fire break out on the luggage-belt loader shortly after the plane arrived.

Montreal Trudeau Airport spokesperson Francois Asselin told the Associated Press that the evacuation was "more of a precautionary measure."

ABC News reports that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident.
