British tourist hunted after leaving child porn in hire car
Police in New Zealand discovered "hundreds" of images of child pornography in a hired car that had been rented by a British tourist.
The 46-year-old holidaymaker left the rental car at Wellington Airport before heading to Thailand.
Detective Senior Sergeant John van den Heuvel told Stuff.co.nz: "It's a hard drive. We've only had a cursory look but there any many files, hundreds from I have been told - but we haven't had the opportunity to fully examine it yet.
"We believe he has gone to Sydney, en route to Bangkok. He's a British citizen, 46 years old. He was here as a tourist."
Stuff.co.nz reports that police contacted customs in Bangkok to stop the man but have not heard if he has been stopped and questioned.
In 2008, a German tourist was arrested at Melbourne Airport in Australia when more than 1,000 images and videos of children engaged in sex acts were found in a hard drive in his luggage.
The 22-year-old was searched after a flight from Germany and charged with importing prohibited goods before appearing in court.
