Woman's body found at bottom of North Yorkshire cliff

Whitby, Yorkshire:

A woman's body was discovered at the bottom of a cliff in popular tourist town Whitby, North Yorkshire on Sunday.

A search operation was launched after a member of the public reported seeing the woman slip from the edge of East Cliff near Whitby Abbey on Sunday morning.

According to the BBC, coastguard rescue teams from Whitby, Scarborough and Staithes were involved in the search.

North Yorkshire Police told the Northern Echo they were investigating the woman's "unexplained" death.
