A chocolate Labrador was saved by an RNLI rescue team after falling 40ft from a cliff in south-west Wales.

Pet dog Spice was walking with his owners in Stackpole Quay, Pembrokeshire on Tuesday when he fell into the sea.

The BBC reports that he spent 40 minutes doggy-paddling before being rescued by lifeboat.

An RNLI spokesman told This is South Wales: "He was frightened and getting tired after spending so long swimming.

"Two of the crew climbed into a small inflatable boat to reach him but he wasn't too sure to start with.

"In the end Matthew jumped into the seat to grab hold of the dog and help him onto the boat."

Spice was reunited with his owners who had to watch his struggle from the cliff top.
