Revealed! Britain's best and worst hotel chains

A new Which? Travel survey has revealed the UK's best and worst hotel chains.

Q Hotels was crowned the best, with Which? members giving the four-star hotels a customer score of 78 per cent.

The chain, which has 18 spa hotels and five golf resorts, also scored well for bed comfort.

Bottom of the table was Britannia, which received a score of 36 per cent and just one star for cleanliness, value for money and room fixtures.

Which? editor Richard Headland said: "Our survey has revealed a king-sized bed gap between the best and worst hotel chains in the UK and shows you don't have to spend a fortune to get a decent overnight stay."

Which? asked 8,000 members in the survey of 36 British hotel chains.

The six best UK hotel chains based on customer satisfaction:

Q hotels 78%
Radisson Blu Edwardian 77%
Premier Inn 76%
Sofitel 74%
DoubleTree by Hilton 71%
Park Plaza 71%

And the worst:

Britannia Hotels 36%
Travelodge 50%
Ramada 51%
PH Hotels 51%
De Vere Village 51%
Shearings Hotels 52%
