Singer Chris Brown has been arrested and charged with felony assault after he allegedly attacked a man outside a luxury hotel in Washington DC.

Brown was arrested and charged with another man, who is reportedly his bodyguard Chris Hollosy.

According to the Guardian, Washington police said the two men were involved in the attack on Sunday morning.

Brown, 24, and Hollosy, 35, are being held in police custody until Monday.

The Washington Post reports that the "physical altercation" happened outside the five-star W Hotel in the 500 block of 15th Street NW.

The charge could carry a four-year prison sentence as the R'n'B singer is still on parole for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Brown got into an argument with the man and allegedly punched him once in the face, but the alleged victim did not throw any punches.
