Is this the world's worst airport?

Manila's main airport terminal has been named the world's worst for the second year in a row by a travel website.

The Philippines' main terminal was ranked the worst by travellers on The Guide to Sleeping in Airports website, based on comfort, cleanliness, convenience and customer service.

Passengers wrote reviews mentioning the "dilapidated facilities", dishonest airport workers, long waiting times and rude officials.

Speaking to AFP, Terminal 1 manager Dante Basanta said: "These are old issues".

He added that the problems were being addressed by the government.

The airport terminal was built 32 years ago and the government has launched a £36million renovation project.

Bergamo airport in Italy was voted the second worst, where it is said there were "people loafing around without T-shirt or without shoes as if they were in their homes and no one gives a hoot".

Calcutta followed, edging out Islamabad and Paris Beauvais.

The world's best airports were Singapore Changi, Seoul Incheon, Amsterdam Schiphol, Hong Kong and Helsinki Vantaa.
